People always ask us how to take care of what we have planted or installed, below is our advice:
New plantings
- should be watered every other day while the warm seasons
- leaves should also be watered to help plant absorb more moisture
- leave the hose on a trickle on the base of the plant for about an hour
General yard maintenance
- mulching should be done once a year to help with weed control
- leaves should not be left in beds, too much coverage will damage existing plants
- lawns should be mowed to a height of 3.5" to 4"
Pruning
- should be done at least once a year to keep plants in a neat appearance
- dead or damaged branches should be removed to ensure disease does not enter at the damaged point
Hardscapes
- can be power washed to remove any growth from being in the shade
Seasonal Tip
Winter is the ideal time to contact a landscape contractor about updating, remodeling, or totally reinstalling your yard. Homeowners typically wait until spring to make their initial calls, only to find that most quality landscapers are busy and even scheduled ahead by March. Plan ahead to get your best service and prices of the year.
